Dr. Art Pitz of the Quad Cities Holocaust Board of education approached me asking if I would consider collecting stories about local Civil Rights heroes along with other important stories. As a result, the A BOOK by ME Human Rights series was born.
Thus far, several important stories have been told of civil rights heros, Japanese American internment stories and stories of Refugees. This includes the story of Nasiba - the Afghan Princess who wrote and illustrated her own children's book. She took this journey so students may learn about the hardships of the refugee population and have compassion.
All nominations of Human Rights stories will be considered for this series. Contact us today!
